Se fosse vivo, José Afonso faria, ao ano em que esta música foi acabada, 94 anos. E não foi preciso viver 94 anos para deixar um legado impossível de ignorar, e ainda mais impossível de esquecer. Pergunto-me amiúde como pensaria a música de hoje, em todas as suas vertentes, e se se sentiria orgulhoso no que é feito em seu nome, ou com a sua influência. Esta minha faixa usa fragmentos da sua música e da sua voz, focando um novo rumo. Se a pista de dança liberta, porque não há de nela, soar a liberdade? Se os corpos se unem, porque não há isso de ser amor? O amor não engana, ou às vezes o faz. Mas, se assim for, que seja no embalo da voz de Zeca, às 5 da manhã, numa pista suada.

If he were alive, José Afonso would have been 94 years old the year this song was finished. And it wasn't necessary to live 94 years to leave a legacy that is impossible to ignore, and even more impossible to forget. I often wonder how he would think about music today, in all its aspects, and whether he would feel proud of what is done in his name, or with his influence. This track of mine uses fragments of his music and his voice, focusing on a new direction. If the dance floor frees, why shouldn't we hear freedom on it? If bodies come together, why shouldn't that be love? Love doesn't deceive, or sometimes it does. But, if so, let it be to the sound of Zeca's voice, at 5 o'clock in the morning, on a sweaty dance floor.
